well, last night, instead of attending SHINE fellowship, i attended March 4 Jesus, some kinda church rally thing!
when i arrived, i was perfectly content to sit in the back row out of the wind, but dr. lee held ela and led me all the way to the fourth front row, where i sat beside cathy and vicky. actually, stupid ela smacked poor kathy when i sat down, but luckily, she didn't get cross with me. :P
actually, i saw liam! i gave him a big hug and passed on my congrats to him for becoming a grandad; his grandson's name is levi!
some guy started with a prayer for us in mandarin; i poked vicky nervously and whispered, "umm ... tonight isn't ALL gonna be in mandarin, is it?!" luckily, she told me that it'd be in mandarin with canto translation.
vicky and kathy went to lead worship, leaving me the only one seated in the row. only good thing was that i didn't haveta stand when everyone else did! :P i didn't sing anything, mainly coz i couldn't read enough canto to save my life! :P but i heard some very nice but unfamiliar female voice sing behind me. i turned around to see who the singer was - 'twas april, uncle ching's niece! she's got a lovely voice! :) we waved to each other.
speaker tonight was some male pastor, and he delivered a sermon in canto about suffering. some lady translated for him into mandarin. much thanks to vicky who got out her english bible, flipped to the passages everyone else was reading in canto, then read them to me in english. :)
the choir also sang. our church choir also wears the same uniform that they wear when we perform! 'twas a choir made up from several different churches; the only person i recognised from BCAC was aunty melody. but both uncle john and his wife, aunty anita (thanks, dad) sang, too. i remember dad telling me that uncle john's got a very powerful voice!
after the service, i had a yak to dr. dr. tai, before dad picked me up and tootled us home. i thought he'd gone back home to spend the night with mother, but no, turns out he'd gone home then come back, staying @ the back of the congregation to listen to the sermon!
anyways, next post here should be bookclub! we're doing 'the secret life of bees'; should be interesting!
until then~
cheers,
em. ^^
P.S.thanks to vicky who wrote down three sentences that i wanted to remember from the night:
learn from yesterday; live for today and hope for tomorrow. :)
