Yay, Autumn has arrived and it won’t be so stinking hot now!
Wait … I’m a complete cold frog and hate the shorter days …
then how come I’m excited that it’s March the 1st?
Oh, that’s right: my BIRTHDAY’s this month, meaning I get to
pen out a birthday wishlist (I get the red squiggly line under wishlist telling
me it’s actually two words and not one but personally I reckon it looks fine as
one XD) and everyone gets to go out and buy me birthday presents! :D Here’s
what I’m after this year:
- Books – every year, I pen out two wishlists, a birthday wishlist and a Christmas wishlist. Undoubtedly, books will always be the first thing I ask for. Never mind that the cruel and unfaithful God has left me so fricking disabled and such a slow reader it takes me almost one entire month to read one novel, that fact remains I’ve always been a huge bookworm at heart and I’ll be damned before I let the cruel and unfaithful God take my love of reading away from me! My favourite generes are fantasy, science fiction and historical fiction, but I’m willing to giveanything bar Mills and Boona try. XD
- Mobile phone – in my two wishlists I put out every year, I’ll have one expensive item I’m asking for. In my past several wishlists, I asked for an e-reader, but awesome Mr. Hall really got me one for my birthday last year so now I’m back to asking for a new mobile. I’ve had my current one for several years now; originally, mother bought me this phone case that comes with a clip so the phone can be propped upright when I’m using it (apparently it’s awfully bad posture to tilt your head down to look at the mobile? Only I can’t hold it upright with one hand and use the other hand to tap away at the screen coz the cruel and unfaithful God left me with only more-or-less functioning hand after He so wantonly destroyed my entire life with the disabling brain tumour back in 2007. >< Oh, don’t worry! Leanne Yong and Peggy Kuo, the onus is on you two ladies to get me a new smartphone coz the last time we caught up I passed you two my mobile and asked you please to download Hangouts for me so I could use Gmail chat to talk with you both, but instead of doing that you both randomly managed to DELETE a random number of apps instead! Luckily you ladies didn’t delete my Candy Crush, else I’d have been really pissed. >< XD I’m totally ignorant about what smartphones are out there, but I trust you two ladies to get me a good one. XD
- Teddy – an item that appears without fail in all wishlists I put out during the year. Yes, all my teddies are named and yes, all are loved, although for some reason all the teddies of the Chan household are predominately male? Some female teddies would be nice.
- Pet – look, it’s approaching eleven years since I was guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of poor Silver and Bronze; seriously, I honestly didn’t know goldfish were so wimpy they needed a heater in their fishtank (another word I believe doesn’t require separating XD) to regulate their water temperature lest they freeze to death! If you buy me two more goldfish, please include a heater with the tank for me, please! Other than that, Luke MacCourt, I’m STILL waiting for my minion-themed pet rock!! XD Your parents did say you’d painted a rock yellow, and that’s a start, but will I EVER receive the finished product?? XD
- Milo cereal – apart from books, a teddy and one expensive item, I try to include one food item in my two wishlists. Last year, I tried asking for Nesquik cereal but nobody got a box for me, so this year I’ll go slightly healthier and ask for a box of Milo cereal. Methinks Milo’s slightly healthier than Nesquik? Although I’m not a nutritionist, so don’t count me on it. XD
- Eggs Benedict – I’m gonna be daring this year and ask for TWO food items; hopefully that doesn’t make me a pig! XD Could someone please take me out to the Coffee Club and lemme eat a plate of eggs Benedict? See, I reckon whoever invented hollandaise sauce deserves a Nobel peace prize! XD Unfortunately, mother’s newest restriction on me (she keeps coming up with more, argh ><) is forbidding me from eating anything over 2000 kJ meaning I’ve had absolutely zero luck enjoying one entire plate of this amazing dish to myself. Even when I’ve offered to share it with mother, she’s refused … so please someone come contact me for a meal out? Actually, aside from eggs Benedict, I’d love to catchup with anyone and everyone for a meal out to celebrate my upcoming birthday but if you’re of a like mind, you’ll have to contact me coz I seriously doubt the parents are gonna let me contact anyone, just like last year! *sigh*
- Minions – since our entire BCAC church family is aware that I’m totally besotted with these yellow, jellybean-shaped creatures, why not get me more? BA-NA-NA! :D XD
Hmm … after naming seven items,
I’ve already run outta things to ask for! Guess I’m not overly materialistic,
then. XD Coupled with the fact that it’s already 9:38pm, I’ve not edited this
post yet and I’ve gotta let mother gleefully bot me off to bed @ 9:45pm … well,
let’s just say I reserve the right to add to this wishlist should anything else
I’d like pop into mind! XD
Next post here … again, I simply
dunno? A movie review? A post on how I celebrated my birthday this year? Could
be anything! Anyhow, until then~
Cheers,
Em. ^^
P.S. Oh, I can't believe I forgot to add this!
8. Birthday Cake! - See, for my special decade birthday (my 30th) horrid mother had refused to buy me a birthday cake, snapping at me, "I didn't get a birthday cake for my birthday last year; why should you get one this year?" Only I'd wailed at her that it wasn't just any birthday but a special DECADE birthday and surely she wouldn't be awful enough to deny me cake?? Well, in the end, as a compromise, mother lemme buy one small SLICE of cake, huh. Thankfully, it being a special decade birthday I was lucky enough to have not one but TWO birthday parties where birthday cake was served, phew. Come last year, I tried asking again: "Could I please have a birthday cake?" Mother agreed, but denied my request to buy a cheesecake from The Cheesecake Shop, saying she'd bake me one instead. *sigh* Fine, whatever; suppose that's better than no cake at all … on the night of my birthday, I've just started nibbling at my very small slice of birthday cake. I pause, look up and asked mother, "It's delicious, but um... how come it's SALTY?! Aren't cheesecakes supposed to be sweet??" Mother collapses into embarrassed laughter, screeching, "Oh, I was hoping your inferior tastebuds wouldn't spot the difference! The recipe said use unsalted butter but I didn't realise and accidentally used salted butter, oops!' XD I joined in laughing, before reassuring her that the cheesecake was still very yummy, if rather strange-tasting. XD Which leads to this year. Third time lucky: I've asked please could mother just BUY a birthday cake for me?? Apparently, she's said yes but not from the Cheesecake Shop coz they're too expensive. Well, as long as she buys me a proper birthday cake from somewhere and not just a cheap blank sponge cake from Woolies/Coles, I'll haveta be satisfied. XD
9. Bolster - I think that's what they're called? Say 'larm jum' in Canto. Years ago, Aunty Katherine Kwong bought me one, and for one season I enjoyed bedtimes muchly because I could wrap all four limbs around my bolster and sleep. The teddy that keeps me company in bed every night wasn't impressed, however; he's of the impression that teddies are MUCH better company than bolsters! XD Anyhow, the season changed, and mother removed my bolster, claiming 'twas either 'too hot' or 'too cold' to continuing using him. Daddy Bear was overjoyed that after the season changed again, I forgot to ask for my bolster back, meaning he reigned supreme on my bed when I wasn't present. When I finally remembered my bolster I asked mother where she'd put it, only to learn that she'd thrown it out! I was aghast, but mother explained that sth so long was hard to wash and hang. Well, fair enough. Still, my four limbs miss having company; please somebody get me a new bolster!
