HAPPY NEW YEAR,
everyone!!! :D Hope 2013 will be a safe and prosperous one for you and your
family~
Me, I had an awesome New Year’s Day. Firstly, I welcomed in
2013 with both parents by my side. Last year, I remember that it was just
mother and I together to welcome in 2012; dad had rushed back to Hong
Kong following old old grandma’s sudden fall in the bathroom. I
remember I’d been so upset, telling dad, “But we’ve always welcomed in every New
Year together! We’ve never been this far apart before!” And that was when my
Christmas gift from the parents had never been handier. See, for Christmas 2012,
the parents had gotten me an Ipad! Dad just told me, “You Facetime me just
around midnight, and I’ll countdown to
the New Year with you.” And sure enough, around 11:55pm,
2011, I’d rung him, and we’d just been chatting about our respective days, when
suddenly I gasped. “Dad! Ten, nine, eight, seven, six-” “-five, four, three,
two, one! Happy new year!” dad cheered with me. From memory, he’d been over my
second aunty’s house, using one of my cousin’s iphones. After the countdown
into 2012, dad had just wandered around that small house, showing the iphone to
everyone inside the house. “Hey, happy New Year, fourth aunty! Happy New Year,
cousin Karry! Happy new year, fourth uncle!” Finally, when it was just dad and
I alone again, I blew him a big kiss. “Happy new year, dad,” I told him, “Thanks
for spending it with me. Now, you go and wait for your own new year to arrive,
okay? (A/N; Hong Kong’s two hours behind Brisbane;
by the time midnight arrived there,
it’d be 2am in Brisbane!)
I’m just about asleep, anyways. Can barely keep my eyes open. So good night, I
love you the most, forever, and I’ll see you back here soon, okies?”
This year, I was super-duper happy that all three of us were
all together. Actually, it wasn’t just the three of us, but also uncle Calvin
and aunty Catherine! I don’t know when/why’d they’d decided to crash our place
for the new year, but hey, the more the merrier. XD Actually, the Slams had said
they’d join us also to welcome in the New Year, but around 9:30pm mother had suddenly received a phone call from Anna,
saying they’d changed their minds and wouldn’t come over after all.
Meaning I’d had a very happy entrance into 2013, all
together with both my parents. :o)
At around 9:30pm, I’d used the loo once then hiked upstairs
to my upstairs bedroom, where I’d flopped onto my bed with dearest Bear Bear
(PIG mum had kindly brought him upstairs for me) and had my second chat to the
cruel and unfaithful god for the year (the first was back in September, during
my MRI) while listening to an old Nsync CD
I’d bought like one decade ago. The amazing thing was that I still remembered
the words to some of the songs!
Come 10:45pm,
mother came back upstairs for me. After using the bathroom once more, I tumbled
back downstairs and wrote my new year’s reflections for 2012!
You can read it at http://embluekirby.blogspot.com.au/2012/12/2012-reflections.html
All too soon, it was 11:45pm
and I headed over to the sofa. Uncle Calvin was ensconced in our massage chair,
mother sat beside Aunty Catherine who sat beside me. Dad had put a dining chair
beside the massage chair and was beside uncle Calvin, but at my request, came
sat closer to me.
We all watched Kylie Minogue and random others entertain us,
then suddenly, the countdown began! Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four,
three, two, one, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hugged
dearest dad first, then mother, then shook hands with both Uncle Calvin and Aunty
Catherine. We all sat and enjoyed the fireworks display from Sydney
together when suddenly, more cracking began! Oh, that’s right, the Glen
Hotel lets off fireworks every New
Year’s also!
After Uncle Calvin and Aunty Catherine said their goodnights
and byes, I too headed off into the land of nod.
The next morning, mother poked me up. ‘”Happy new year!” I
greeted, then groused at her, “If dad’s not taking us out somewhere today, I’m
not getting outta bed until 6pm.”
Mother laughed, then replied, “Dad says he’s gonna take us over to Westfield
Chermside. You gonna get up or not?”
Well, duh! I go to Westfield Garden City once every
fortnight, Westfield Carindale once every year (for the Boxing Day sales), but
I’ve never been to Westfield Chermside before!
So after a quick breakfast and a loo trip, dad tootled us
off to Chermside. He even took us along the airport link for the first time
ever! Lol, I don’t even know when he got our car fitted out with an e-toll tag.
XD
Luckily, the parents allowed me to use Sparkless all day
today, phew.
Many shops were closed today, like all the bookstores,
unfortunately, but I spent several minutes browsing Feist’s ‘Flight of the Nighthawks’
while the parents were shopping in Myer.
Again, lunch was a disappointment, if one slightly less than
the disappointment Boxing Day lunch had been. I was still denied any chips, but
at least I got a yummy warm chicken katsudon from Hanaichi.
After lunch, I went and bought three shirts! The first was
from Jay Jays, my favourite store. It was a shirt with Spock pictured doing the
Vulcan salute, with the caption ‘trek it before you wreck it’. Yup, I will
shamelessly admit that I’m a Trekkie. XD I bought a second shirt from Queenspark,
but will sheepishly confess that I forgot where I got the third shirt from. XD
Anyways, we headed home soon after that. Mother was quite
happy with the sales available on New Year ’s Day; she says that next year, we
can go to them again and skip the boxing day sales, where there are just waaay
too many people.
Next post here … should come very soon, if I’m organised!
(meaning you probably won’t see it for several days yet. XD) See, yesterday,
aunty A took mother, Anna and I for a road trip! Much adventure ensued; shall
tell you all about that presently. XD until then!
Cheers,
Em. ^^
